HIIT: Less Of A Trend & More Of A Staple

via http://www.jber.jb.mil

November 15, 2018 //  by Antonia Sinibaldi

HIIT stands for high-intensity interval training. Many looked at this type of exercise as just a trend.Trends usually come and go, but HIIT has become one of those that are steady among the fitness trends. This workout style has become less of a trend, and more of a staple due to its benefits.

What Is It?

HIIT is a type of interval training where you give quick all out bursts of exercise, and follow with recovery period (which can also just be periods of less intense exercise). The high intensity increases oxygen shortage during the exercise and asks for more during recovery. This results in excess post exercise consumption – more fat and calories are burned than regular aerobic workouts.

And Benefits?

HIIT training has a wide variety of benefits. It increases metabolism, and continues the fat burning process hours after the workout has been completed. HIIT is also very quick and convenient. A 30-minute workout of this type of training can yield benefits one might see from working out for an hour or more. It can even be done anywhere. If you don’t have any equipment, that is no problem at all! Personally, I feel like the bodyweight workouts are even more challenging than using machines at a gym.
