You may have heard the saying, “salads don’t have to be boring!” There is a lot of truth in that statement, as a salad can be a nutritious and delicious meal that’s a part of your diet. If you’ve ever felt the urge to be grossed out by salads because you think they’re “bland” or they “taste like grass” you came to the right place! Here are a couple of ways to dress up your salad and leave you full and satisfied!
Add your favorite protein!
Protein is what will mainly keep you satisfied and full, so this is an important factor! I personally like to add in grilled chicken or tofu that I airfry for a crispy texture! Other options are beans, which contain a fair amount of protein for your salad! I like to throw in cannelini beans and chickpeas because I prefer the texture of them the best! Bonus points if you airfry and make the chickpeas crispy, and season it with spices! That will add lots of seasoning in your salad.
Add necessary crunch!
Crunch can range from the crispy chickpeas that I mentioned above, or throwing in croutons, naan crackers (the ones from Trader Joe’s are my personal favorites), triscuit crackers, you name it! Having a crunchy factor in your salad, will make the texture much more enjoyable than simply just spring mix or chopped romaine.
Color!
Adding color is what makes food more appealing and approachable to eat, and also will make the salad much more filling. I like to personally add beets, bell peppers, hard boiled eggs, carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta cheese crumbles!
Also have fun with your salad creations, it does not have to be boring! The more flavors you add, the more satisfied and encouraged you will be to add salads to your diet!
