June 28, 2024 //  by Emily Hayburn

As the sun-soaked days of summer approach, there’s no better way to beat the heat and refuel your body than with a refreshing and nutritious protein smoothie. Bursting with flavor and packed with essential nutrients, this delightful concoction promises to invigorate your senses and keep you energized throughout the day. Let’s unveil the recipe for this revitalizing summer treat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana, peeled and frozen
  • 1/2 cup of fresh or frozen mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt (plain or vanilla flavored)
  • 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder (whey, plant-based, or collagen)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup (optional, for added sweetness)
  • 1/2 cup of coconut water or almond milk
  • Handful of ice cubes (optional, for extra chill)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Gather all the ingredients and ensure that the banana is ripe and frozen for a creamy texture. If using fresh berries, wash them thoroughly and remove any stems.
  2. Blend: In a high-speed blender, combine the frozen banana, mixed berries, Greek yogurt, protein powder, honey or maple syrup (if using), and coconut water or almond milk. Add ice cubes if you prefer a colder smoothie.
  3. Blend Until Smooth: Secure the lid of the blender and blend on high speed until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined and the mixture is smooth and creamy. If necessary, stop and scrape down the sides of the blender to ensure even blending.
  4. Taste and Adjust: Give the smoothie a taste and adjust the sweetness or consistency as desired. You can add more honey or maple syrup for sweetness, or more coconut water or almond milk for a thinner consistency.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Pour the smoothie into glasses and garnish with fresh berries or a sprinkle of granola for added texture. Serve immediately and savor the refreshing flavors of summer.
