Tasty Turmeric: Your Spicy Friend

Bored of the old salt and pepper? Looking to spice up your life? Need some anti-inflammatory and immune boosting power? Then it might be time to give turmeric a try! Turmeric is spice that is often found in Indian dishes. Known for its mustard-yellow hue, this spice has a slightly bitter and spicy taste. However, it has loads of health benefits!

Benefits

1. It’s Anti-Inflammatory

Studies show that turmeric may help your body fight off foreign invaders. It’s strong anti-inflammatory properties could even match the effectiveness of some anti-inflammatory drugs.

2. It Increases the Antioxidant Capacity of Your Body

Curcumin, an active compound found in turmeric, serves as an antioxidant that protects your body from free radicals.

3. Pain Relief

Some studies show that turmeric can be used as a pain reliever. In fact, it’s sometimes used to relieve the symptoms of arthritis.

4. Digestive Properties

Not only does turmeric add intense flavor food, but it also can help your digestive system. This is due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

5. Skin Brightener

Is your skin feeling dull and tired? Turmeric has been used externally for many years as a natural skin brightener and scar lightener. Try mixing 1/3 Cup of full fat yogurt with 1 TBSP of turmeric and 1 TBSP of honey as a DIY face mask!

Uses
