No Such Thing As “The Perfect Time”

September 10, 2018 //  by Angelina Seeney

First question, who else is always waiting for the right time? Next question, who else finds themselves waiting forever sometimes (or all the time) for that time to come?

A lot of people wait around for the right time to come before they take action. Going back to my second question, many find themselves waiting forever for that time to come.

Excuses, Excuses

Excuses are one of the easiest ways to taking two steps back from where you are trying to go. Once you find one, theres always three more to follow. Excuses are a sense of mental security, and can make you feel better about not taking action. It is easier to say that I am not ready, I am not qualified, I need everything to be perfect first, or I will do it tomorrow, than it is to say I am going to go after this now.

Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone is not easy, and we can comfortably fall into the trap of letting our goals be tomorrows worries. It is important to keep in mind that tomorrow is never promised, and there is no better time than now.

Be An Outlier

An outlier is someone who is given a chance/an opportunity and seizes the opportunity and runs with them. Seize the day! Remember luck is when opportunity meets preparation, and as long as you are prepared and the opportunity is there go after it. If you don’t someone else will. We all would love the day a time machine is invented, but currently time waits for no one and we have to remember to make the most of it while it’s available to us.

An outlier is also not afraid of failure, where a fear of failure can disallow you from moving forward towards your goals.

Research shows that when looking back on our lives the most common regrets are the risks not taken. Regrets of inaction, and steps not taken are seen to create the greatest despair.

Get Over The Hump

The hardest part for many of us may just be the beginning, and getting started. Stay in the present, too much focus on the future creates worry and anxiety. Use what you have right now to get started and take it from there. Remember there is no better time than now, take that step.

Self-doubt and self-criticism is almost inevitable, do not let it hold you back. Learning and growing is also a never-ending part of life. Your time is now, and the world waiting for you to give what you have to offer.

“Do not wait: the time will never be ‘just right’. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command and better tools will be found as you go along.”― Napoleon Hill
