Race Opportunities Nearby

fitness, sport and success concept - happy woman winning race and coming first to finish red ribbon over group of sportsmen running marathon with badge numbers at park

March 13, 2024 //  by Emily Hayburn

If you are anything like me, you need something to train for. An end goal, a challenge, even just a dare. But something to motivate me- a time bound goal that requires some form of stepping up to the plate. Regular physical activity can get monotonous, but there are options to fix that.

So for that reason, here are some different 5K race opportunities to give you a boost of motivation!

Run the 18th Annual Shamrock Shuffle in Lewes

March 17, 2024

The Shamrock Shuffle offers a variety of options if you are looking for some alternative St. Patrick’s Day plans. They are hosting a 10 mile race, a 5k race, as well as a relay race.

Run or Walk the St. Patrick’s Day Revenge in Wilmington

March 17, 2024

This race is also the perfect option for an alternative St. Patrick’s Day plan- but with a bit of a traditional twist. Runners and walkers will get a pint of beer at the end of their race day, along with snacks and t-shirt.

Run the Chocolate Bunny 5K in Newark

March 30, 2024

If you are food motivated, this race might be the right one for you. Each runner will receive a chocolate bunny at the end of the race, along with post race snacks!

Run the Pups & Pints 5K in Newark

April 6, 2024

Maybe you aren’t food motivated, but there are options for people like you. Rescue pups and pints might just be the way to go. Race through Newark for a good cause!

Run the Run For Strength 5K in Wilmington

April 20, 2024

Join the fight against neuromuscular disease with the Muscle Movement Foundation’s 5K. All runners can attend an after party following the race and you can walk away knowing you have made a difference.

These are all excellent ways to get more involved in our local Northern Delaware community, as well as expand the range of different physical activities you engage in. 5Ks are the gateway race- once you run one, you never want to stop. Not only will these races and ones like them motivate you to get your workout done early, but it will also open doors to a multitude of opportunities for more!

Check out more races on the Running USA Delaware page and get started on a new level of your fitness journey,
