It may seem like “meeting people in the winter” is a strange topic. But, during the winter, seasonal depression is at an all time high and people are indoors more than ever because it is so cold outside. Meeting people, whether you’re looking to form new friendships or are looking for a new relationship, can be difficult regardless of the time of year. Winter makes it more difficult, so here are a few ways you can meet people during this time of year!
Join a Fitness Class
It is one thing to join a gym to meet new people. However, many people keep their headphones on and keep to themselves. In group fitness classes, no one wears headphones and everyone interacts together. You’re sure to meet new people this way!
Volunteer
Volunteering is another great way to get out of your comfort zone and meet new people. If you pick an organization you care about, the people you meet there will have some similar interests as you.
Join a Book Club
I’ve seen posters all over the place promoting book clubs. Meet new people by joining one, or start your own! Invite people you already know and tell them to invite others as well. This way, you’re still expanding your social circle and will meet new people.
It can be very intimidating to venture out on your own. Be confident in yourself. Find a group activity you can join that you are interested in. Odds are you will meet someone with very similar interests that you’ll hit it off with!
