Welcome to another multi-part series – this time, our focus is all about DETOXING. Now, before you start visualizing juice cleanses, only eating celery for a week, or sweating out pounds of water – that’s not the detox I mean. A lot of what we focus on at GUADS are ways to add in healthy foods or behaviors into your life; but all of us come into contact with harmful chemicals and toxins everyday, many of which we don’t even realize, that may be detrimental to our health. So let’s talk about some things to remove from your life so you can be your healthiest.
Where are you coming into contact with toxins?
You might look at nutrition labels, but do you often check ingredients in everything else you buy? What percentage of ingredients are completely foreign (and impossible to pronounce) to you?? The categories below are where you are most likely to come into contact with harmful toxins;
-
Cleaning Products
-
Beauty and Self-care Products / Cosmetics
-
Household and Technology Items
-
Food and Beverages (even water)
Why Does It Matter?
Well, considering how often you come into contact with the above products (ahem… it’s a lot no matter who you are), the multiple ways that these toxins can enter your system (absorption, inhalation, consumption), and the damage they can do (from skin irritation to permanent damage to DNA or endocrine system function to cancer) – your environment and what you surround yourself with can HUGELY impact your health. Follow along with this Detox Series as we take a deeper dive into these 4 categories, resources to help you know what you are dealing with, and ways to avoid these harmful ingredients. Stay tuned!!
