I feel like everyday is some new international holiday, and most of them I am fully prepared to ignore; but when I saw that it was International Picnic Day, I couldn’t help but make a post about it. Sharing food with friends on a sunny day is one of my favorite parts of summer; as it turns out, not only are picnics fun, but they can also be beneficial for your health!
Benefits:
- Boosts mood.
- Allows for outdoor time.
- Encourages daytime physical movement.
- Provides social time with family/friends.
- Fosters healthy eating habits.
- Relieves stress.
- Boosts Vitamin D.
- Encourages saving money.
Picnics are a great way to enjoy a hit of Vitamin D and some relaxing fresh air while using healthy food practices (hello, meal prepping!) and getting some nourishing social and self time! Below are some of my favorite healthy options to bring on picnics:
- Veggie + Hummus Wraps or Sandwiches
- Nuts
- Veggies and dip
- Whole fruits or fruit salad
- Bean salad
- There are also a ton of other great ideas here!
Now that we have sunshine and summer is almost officially here, what are you waiting for?? Go get your picnic on!
