Sleepy girl mocktails have been all the craze on social media. I see it all the time on TikTok an Instagram. Girls are making a drink with magnesium, tart cherry juice, and sparkling water. However, there’s one common mistake I keep seeing. People are using the wrong type of magnesium! There are two common types of magnesium: magnesium citrate and magnesium glycinate. You’re probably wondering, what’s the difference?
Magnesium Citrate
This form of magnesium is one of the first ones that pop up on Amazon. Many people see it, don’t read closely and buy it for their mocktails. However, this type of magnesium does not help with sleep. It actually helps with constipation and regulates your digestive system.
Magnesium Glycinate
This type of magnesium is the one that helps you sleep better. It is known to be calming and to relax your muscles. On top of that, it helps support or improve your mood. Sleep is so important to every day life so if you need a helping hand, try magnesium glycinate.
If you’re trying to improve your sleep, stick with magnesium glycinate. Marketing on these types of supplements can be deceiving so make sure you read the small print.
