Outside The Box Self-Care

Young Man standing alone in forest outdoor with sunset nature on background Travel Lifestyle and survival concept.

May 29, 2022 //  by Kate Howland

Many blogs and journals say that you should do one thing for your mind, one thing for your body, and one thing for your soul every day to live a healthy and positive life. However, not many provide out of the box ideas for such self-care activities! Here are 4 ways to spice up your self care routine:

1. Sleeping with an extra pillow.

Sleeping with an extra pillow? How could this possibly be self-care? Treating yourself to extra comfort can be such an easy way to take extra care of yourself. Whether that means more head support, or something to hold on to at night to give you more comfort, sleeping with an extra pillow can be a simple addition to your routine for self-care.

2. Spending time in nature.

Spending time in nature has shown to be linked to lower levels of stress, depression, and anxiety. Something as simple as sitting on your back porch, taking a walk, or watching the sunset can improve your head space and be a great form of self-care.

3. Redecorating your space.

As daunting of a task as this may be, tackling even just a part of your space and making it exactly how you want it can be a form of self-care. Whether it’s cleaning out your closet and only keeping what makes you feel confident or buy a new plant for you living room, taking some time to re organize your space is the ultimate form of self-care.

4. Appreciating others.

Something that is not talked about enough is that showing appreciation for the people in your life and nourishing your relationships can also be a great form of self-care. Writing a small note to someone you care about or bringing them a coffee not only makes them feel good and strengthens your relationships in your life, but it makes you feel good and gives you a sense of purpose and accomplishment that can also be a form of self-care.
