Have you ever skipped a workout or pushed exercising off to the next day? Well, I think when it comes to being active, most people imagine that a successful workout requires going all out for hours and lots, and lots of sweat. Believe it or not, this all-or-nothing mindset is holding you back. When we think about working out being an all or nothing activity, it’s easy to get discouraged if you don’t have a ton of time or energy to dedicate to it. For those of us who aren’t gym junkies, this mindset can make working out feel like a daunting task. It doesn’t have to be though.
We’re All Different
Exercise and working out looks different for most people. Not everyone is motivated and excited to workout. Hello…we’re all busy and tired from school or work, right?! Working out takes time and energy. But hear me out, the main point is that it doesn’t matter how hard you’re working out, but the fact that you are.
Change Your Mindset
Like I just said, the fact that you’re working out or wanting to is what matters. So chuck the idea that working out is long, strenuous, and sweaty out the window. If you can’t spare a full hour, try 30 minutes. Doing something is always better than nothing. Think about it like this: even though you may not be going all out every time you workout, doing a light workout is going to be more beneficial than actually skipping it entirely. It’s okay to give yourself a break. Even gym junkies have off-days.
Be proud of yourself for making healthy choices! Finding a workout that fits you and your lifestyle may take some time, so be patient, and keep in mind that it’s not all or nothing!
